Poem: Olé

Boredom sets in
Doldrums pitch their tent
Bloody time lengthens its shadow
Landlord demands the rent

We scrounge and scurry for survival
We’re full on absorbed in the moment
Distractions hold desperation at bay
There’s never a revolution to foment

People rising up all over the globe
Authorities react with troops and guns
Makes you wonder how our species survives
When elusive freedom’s always on the run

I force myself to hold it in
Like any good boy scout would
The river sound excites my mind
Relief can be found
Deep in the woods

“Olé, olé” they shouted
Cheering on the team
The live feed pauses for a slice of time
While I go out to fulfil
My dream
