Poem: Choices

When the world doesn’t go your way
You’re stuck here
In the middle of the fray
Rhymes are worth less than dimes
And your headache never
Seems to go away

Been there, done that
Along with a million other things
Who knows each morning
What another day
Brings?

Overall average global warming trends
But then
Freezing weather in early Fall
Like swimming hard and getting the bends
Frankenstein Nature
With its crystal ball

Running for my life
Can’t sleep at night
Worried ’bout my offspring
Becoming a polluting profiteer offering

The science is real
But we’d rather the believers with their dreams
Run the show
WWIII and Messianic intervention
Are what they’ve been pushing for
From the get go

Money is a god, the earth a sacrifice
This rushing train we’ve set in motion
We’ve invited the sun for a BBQ
Get out your magical tanning lotion

The images fly like a bird piercing the sky
One by one, another then another
I am the sum of all my life choices
From the time
I escaped my covers

To grow up in a big vast world
Then to step out into its fast flowing river
Is to trust in promises you’ve been made in your youth
Hoping the cosmos can deliver

With each step or series of steps
Comes an array of important decisions
Before this your job is to discover
True wisdom
From science-based visions

I’ve lived awhile, seen a few things
Sailed my boat over many an ocean
In the end I advise
Embracing not avoiding reality
With your mind and emotion

Anyone want to second the motion?
