Poem: I Breathe

My pain is gone
My cup is full
The life I lead
Climbs higher still

Higher than
A mountain top
The trees of the field
Clap
And never stop

I rejoice in my breath
At being part
Of the fabric of life
One day it’ll all be over
That truth
Cuts as a knife

Into my deepest soul

Temporary
Momentary
An eyeblink
My short existence
Is both the burden & joy
I carry

Live it up
Lap it up
Laugh it up
Limping
Loving
Smiling
Sighing

To the
Finish line
Of life
