Poem: Non-stop

When efforts don’t equal success
When you’re tired of second best
Society’s priorities put you to the test
And your attempts are just an educated guess

You make all the right moves but’re still stuck in the same position
You’ve worked on your goal so long its become your mission
And there’s no choice, no alternative vision
Your lack of progress makes you the object of derision

The stars still don’t shine as bright due to your questioning
The details of your quest are worth mentioning
The strength to live shows up on your best morning
At the same time your anxiety’s still festering

Gratitude that things aren’t worse remains intact
From wake-up until you hit the sack
Looking ahead without glancing back
Being positive although the playing field’s packed

Be happy, through ups and downs
Accentuate smiles, fight off frowns
Live for today, prep for the next
Build a nest that wards off pests

Do what’s necessary, cover all bases
Whether on your sofa or in car chases
Do your utmost, with all your might
Whatever it takes, stay in the fight
