Poem: Continuing

Busted my ass thing
To make a lasting
Impression on my banking
And my career planning

Taking care of my family
Instead of getting laid off continuously
Seems to occur bi-annually
Like a funeral homily

And now this pandemic thing
‘Ll cause some financial reckoning
In the economy this Spring
As the card deck’s blown in the wind

So, we can’t take it all merrily
While the sky greys so rapidly
And the pied piper plays so mournfully
From Bella Coola to Willoughby in Langley

Where this thing stops, I’m thinking
No matter if the sopranos cease singing
And the mandolins halt their melodious ringing
F* it, while blood’s still flowing in my veins
I’m continuing
