Poem: Obvious Fools

The Spirit leads me
To pen this beast
To use fat thumbs
To tap out a feast

A feast of poetry and mirth
A banquet of wordsmithing and joy
A kick-ass compilation of choice words
A filling for your rotten teeth, oh boy!

Obvious fools, I can
Find them in 2 secs
News sites plumb full of ’em
Blabbering lips from outstretched necks

Reuters, CBC, Citynews 1130
CNN, Global News, Germany’s DW
All the news that’s fit to print
Clearly spelling out global woes & troubles

BBC, Al Jazeera, AP News
CTV, Vox, The Tyee, The Guardian
All will list politicians, foolish and wise
Celebrities raising funds
And the others passed out partyin’

Obvious fools are always the Other
Lane-side drivers, disagreeable bosses
News-feed gun-shooters and mouth-shooting populists
Those who steal my joy
And increase my losses

‘Tis amazing, I find, after years of living
The most obvious fool isn’t out there
But the doppelganger in the mirror:
The aging dude decked out in his morning underwear
